There's a day in January known as 'Blue Monday' and as well as when most people give up on their new years resolutions! Life tends to have natural ebbs and flows; we go through peaks of feeling highly motivated towards our goals and troughs where everything feels a little tougher than it should. But what this can teach us, is that when times are tough, we are learning our biggest lessons and breaking habits by remaining consistent.
It’s not necessary to have our foot on the pedal, full speed at all times, honestly, who can live their life like that? But we must remember its ‘continuous effort, not strength or intelligence that it the key to unlocking our potential’ to quote Winston Churchill.
Our recommendation would be to spend some time setting out your goals. Make them realistic and achievable, be specific and give them a time frame, this gives you a focus to work towards. Whether its a weight loss goal or a performance goal the coaches at Connect will be happy help. Goal setting can really help to get you back on track and through those times when motivation ebbs away a little. We are then on hand to help you achieve what you have set out to do - so come chat to us.
If it does all become too much and you just feel like giving up its important to ask yourself the question "why did I start this in the first place?" and remind yourself what it is that you set out to do.
It is all too easy to stay with our familiar selves, where we feel safe and comfortable, but it is when we push past that threshold, to the self that really wants to achieve and change that life gets interesting. This is when coaching is incredibly useful as when we feel a lack of self motivation, having the support of a coach there to guide you through, at a time when alone, you may have given up, can be incredibly powerful.
So let us help you stay on track at a time of year when others would give up.
